One of the "Original Roasters"
Rostov's Coffee & Tea has been roasting coffee in Richmond, Virginia since 1979. It was founded by Jay Rostov. In 1999 Jay's daughter Tammy Rostov took over the store and renamed it after her father. Today, Tammy and her co-workers spend every day filling the streets of Richmond with the incredible smell of roasting coffee. All the roasting is done daily on the premises using a Jabez-Burnz roaster from the 1940's. Under the guidance of our master roaster, we roast all of our coffee beans on-site. Since beans from different countries all have varying roasting temperatures and times, this process requires extensive knowledge and experience.
Our knowledgeable team has a lot to do with it. Our friendly staff knows coffee and tea. They're ready to offer advice, and answer all of your questions. To make sure the coffee we sell is as fresh as possible, we only roast in small quantities. For our flavored coffee's, we prepare them with a wholesome process, using only natural flavorings. We coat the beans with flavoring while they are still warm from roasting. At Rostov's, it's our goal to give you the ultimate coffee experience. To do so, we purchase beans from those countries and climates we know grow the best coffee. Since we're certain of the exact roasting time of each bean - and the precise roast that will bring out the bean's flavor - you'll be able to taste our expertise in every cup.
At Rostov's we carry 60 different types of loose tea - from more traditional flavors such as Earl Grey and English Breakfast to the truly exotic Genmai Cha. Our tea selection includes herbal, green, black, white, and various flavored teas including our popular Richmond Blend.
